We raced a bike from the 1950s against one from 2009 to see how modern cycling technology effects performance

Modern time-trial bikes are built with space-age technology – but how much faster are they than those ridden by the Tour de France heroes of the 1950s? We got Welsh road bike champion and Rapha-Condor-Recycling rider Dale Appleby to do two time trials on machines from the respective eras to find out.
