Dry runners

Keep the water off your back this winter with one of these waterproofs. But which one?

Asics Mercury - £50
Our favourite running brand comes up trumps again. It’s a little heavier than some though – for extra wind protection – so we'd suggest you save this for when it gets really wintry.

Helly Hansen Stratos - £35
This is a brand that’s really going well, and this jacket shows why – it fits snugly but doesn’t restrict movement, and it looks great too.

Columbia Faster & Lighter Shell - £175
It's very light, yet offers great protection from the elements. Or you could spend the cash on a holiday somewhere sunny where you don’t need a jacket.

Nike + Utility Jacket - £85
The Clima-FIT fabric keeps you warm without letting you overheat on your run. The jacket makes you look really good, too.

New Balance Tech Plus - £60
This is a decent jacket at a good price, boasting an MP3 pocket and headphone ports to keep wires from flapping about. Oh, it kept the rain off, too.
