1 Drink water
A pint of cold water can increase the metabolism for half an hour. A study published in the Journal Of Clinical Endocrinology And Metabolism found that the activity of warming the water makes you burn calories.
2 Eat early
Your metabolic rate is highest in the morning. If you have breakfast you’re four times less likely to be overweight than someone who doesn’t eat first thing, says a Harvard study.
3 Quality protein
Eat lean sources of protein such as eggs, poultry and fish. According to a study in the American Journal Of Clinical Nutrition the body uses more calories when processing protein than carbohydrates or fats.
4 Keep scoffing
Divide daily calories into three meals and two snacks. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that those who eat little and often are leaner than those who pack away three big meals.
5 Catch Zs
When the body is exhausted, it lacks the energy to perform normal day-to-day functions, including burning calories. A study at the University of Chicago found that people who got four hours of sleep or less a night had difficulty processing carbs.
